Arcadia, Los Angeles County
Santa Anita Park opened in Arcadia on Christmas Day 1934, with the San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop to its art deco grandstand. Seabiscuit won his final race here in 1940, and a statue of the horse stands in the paddock gardens. The track still runs a winter and spring season built around the Santa Anita Handicap and the Santa Anita Derby.
